The enriched nitrox divers course is designed to train the divers to use breathing gases that have a higher percentage of oxygen than the typical air used by recreational divers. The course teaches the divers the techniques of analyzing and planning dives with enriched air. Some of the benefits of using enriched nitrox include: - Longer bottom times - Reduced nitrogen absorption - Shorter surface intervals The course usually consists of two parts: theory and practical training. The theory part covers topics such as gas physics, physiology, dive planning, and equipment considerations. In the practical part, the divers learn to analyze gas mixtures, use enriched nitrox dive computers, and safely perform nitrox dives. To enroll in the enriched nitrox diver course, divers must have a minimum Open Water Diver certification or equivalent and be at least 15 years old. The course takes about one day to complete, and the certification is valid for life.
